Author Visit and Book Signing

Posted October 18, 2012 - Save the date: on 4 pm October 25, 2012, the TCU Press and the TCU Library will be hosting an author visit and book signing in the TCU Library Conference Room. Major Moments captures the success stories of 75 years at TCU’s Neeley School of Business. This volume brings together the innovations and discoveries from a carefully selected all-star business team of more than eighty individuals from all industries and backgrounds.

These business executives—alumni or key partners of the Neeley School—discuss the ideas, innovations, and discoveries that led to career advancement and success. Unlock and enjoy their wealth of knowledge, creativity, and vision.

TCU Texas Book Award

2013 TCU Texas Book Award

Posted September 18, 2012 - The Friends of the TCU Library and TCU Press are co-sponsors of the 2013 TCU Texas Book Award. A prize of $5,000 is given to the author of the best book about Texas. Fiction, nonfiction, art and photography, and other books will be considered; juvenile, young-adult and self-published works are excluded, as are dramatic works. Deadline for entries is November 30, 2012.

To enter, send three copies of the book to the TCU Press, 3000 Sandage, Fort Worth, Texas 76109, clearly marked for the "TCU Texas Book Award." Please send books to arrive after September 1, 2012. Books must be postmarked by November 30, 2012 to be eligible. Author, publisher, agent or any interested party may make submissions. No acknowledgement of entries will be sent and books cannot be returned. Each entry must include the entrant's address and phone number. Only one book by any author will be considered. Books must have been published between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2012. The winner will be notified by February 28, 2013.

Works published by TCU Press are not eligible for this competition, nor are works by TCU faculty and personnel.

The Award

The presentation of $5,000 and a certificate will be made at the annual Friends of the TCU Library Banquet at TCU on Thursday, March 28, 2013. The author of the winning title is expected to attend and deliver remarks.

Posted May 25, 2012 - On Friday, June 1 at 3 p.m., author Lonn Taylor will be stopping by the Gearhart Reading Room in the TCU Library to sign copies of the book Texas, My Texas: Musings of the Rambling Boy and to share some legacies of Texas past and Texas present. Taylor’s book is a story of real Texas men and women, times and places that have made this state what it is today. Sponsored by the TCU Press.

Posted May 21, 2012 - Mary Louise Waldron Mooring was a devout Frog fan, and president of the Friends of the TCU Library, 1990-1992.

Mary was passionate about many things. She loved to read and was always seen with a bag full of the latest best sellers. She became well known for her book reviews and captivated her audiences with a sincere love for the written word. She was a devotee of William Shakespeare.

Happy Anniversary to the Friends!

Posted April 30, 2012 - The Friends 40th Anniversary Celebration was a hit and a day our Friends will be talking about for some time. Guests were taken on an unforgettable tour of the Harlan Crow Library, which is full of American History, including an extensive non-circulating collection of manuscripts, rare books, portraits, photographs, statues and other artistic treasures. Dr. Nowell Donovan also inspired and entertained everyone with his presentation on The quest for knowledge and 'Noblesse Oblige'
