President's Message
By Bob Newkirk

On Friday January 19th the Friends and their guests were privileged to hear Jim Lee, (author, humorist, editor and Professor of English) deliver his presentation, "Reading Will Ruin You." Those who were unable to attend missed one of the most entertaining and humorous evenings the Friends have enjoyed for a long time.

Lee has written for the Southwestern Historical Quarterly, the Concho River Review, was former President of the Texas Folklore Society and in 1993 wrote "Texas, My Texas", a book of essays. Jim is presently adjunct advisor to the TCU Press and if you ever have another opportunity to hear him, don't miss it.

On Wednesday evening, March 24th, the Friends heard Arlette Conzemius- Paccoud, Luxembourg's Ambassador to the U.S.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to welcome our new members, Peggy Brotherton and Susan Leach. They start their terms on office on June 1st.

Be certain to put on your calendar our Annual Dinner which is scheduled for April 30th at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni Center. Milan Hughston from the Amon Carter Museum will be the featured speaker. I encourage everyone to attend and invite guests.
