The Friends Remember - by Hugh Macdonald


Levi Moffitt Cecil, Jr.  1914-2002

      Dr. Cecil and his wife, Edythe, were founding and life members of the Friends and Edythe served as the first Secretary of the Friends. For 33 years Dr. Cecil taught in the English Department at TCU and for a time acted as associate dean of TCU’s AddRan College of Arts and Sciences. His particular interests in American literature were focused on Twain and Poe. Students and colleagues appreciated his paternal care and attention.

Anna Harriet Heyer  1909-2002

      The first full-time music librarian in Texas, Anna Harriet formed the largest music library in the Southwest at the University of North Texas. Upon retiring from UNT, she joined the TCU Library staff as consultant on music library materials from 1965 until her second retirement in 1979. Her most important contribution to music scholarship was her monumental bibliography, Historical Sets, Collected Editions and Monuments of Music: A Guide to their Contents. Anna Harriet was a lifetime member of Friends.
