Wizard of Oz Gift to Special Collections - by Roger Rainwater

Historian, best-selling author, and long-time Friend, Dr. Paul Boller, recently donated his entire collection of Wizard of Oziana to the Library.  The collection, which includes 72 books (the earliest published in 1904), 10 periodical titles, and over 250 newspaper articles, catalogues, and other ephemeral items, will be housed in Special Collections.  In addition to books written by L. Frank Baum, author of the original Wizard of Oz books, there are works by Ruth Plumly Thompson, Dick Martin, and Jack Snow.  Other items include a lengthy run of The Baum Bugle: a journal of Oz, published by the International Wizard of Oz Club.  Dr. Bollerís interest in the Wizard of Oz has been life-long, having begun his collection as a boy.  Dr. Bollerís generous gift neatly compliments the Libraryís Erisman-Odom Collection of childrenís literature.
