|Boschini Family Honored at "Four Freedoms" Dedication|
Monday, July 28, 2003, The TCU Library hosted an afternoon reception to welcome our 10th Chancellor, Victor Boschini, his wife, Megan and their 4 children, Elizabeth, Mary Catherine, Edward Mark and Margaret to our corner of campus. Our new Chancellor comes to us by way of the Illinois State University where he served as President. The Boschini Family charmed the staff as they received our hearty welcome and we all enjoyed the cake and punch that followed the event.
The auspicious occasion also served as the official dedication of the Library’s “Four Freedoms” posters. The posters, freedom of speech and expression, the freedom of every person to worship God in his own way, the freedom from want, and the freedom from fear, were created in the early forties by the artist, Norman Rockwell. They came to the Library as part of the Government Printing Office’s Depository Library Program. The event featured short speeches by Ben Proctor, Emeritus Professor of History, and Government Information Librarian, Brenda Barnes. Both gave entertaining history and period flair behind the creation of the posters. The Friends underwrote the cost of framing the four posters that now hang prominently in the Library lobby.
