President's Remarks - by Bridget Thomas

Greeting and Salutations!

Welcome autumn and all it's color and glory.  The snap in the air reminds us that it's that time of year again when we reflect on the year behind us and the year to follow...

If you haven't had the chance to participate in the marvelous events so far this year... here is a taste of what you have been missing: our first author event with Janet Evanovich on July 22 and our 2nd biannual FacultySpeak with Dr. Arthur Ehlmann and the Monnig Meteorite Collection.  It's not too late to mark your calendars now for the following upcoming events; Sunday, November 23rd, Joyce Roach reception and book signing for her book, "Horned Toad Canyon", Friday December 5th, the annual TCU Press/Friends Autograph Extravaganza with Elmer Kelton at the Botanic Garden.  Friends also sponsor the Library staff holiday luncheon with the presentation of the General Staff Recognition Award to be held on January 6th..  Mark you calendars for the annual banquet on April 6th when our guest speaker will be Bob Schieffer.  Be watching your mailboxes for the announcements to follow.

It is going to be a full year and one in which the Friends of the TCU Library figure prominently.  Membership in the Friends is more than just check out privileges.  It promises to be enriching and fulfilling as well as ripe with opportunities to meet new friends and participate in interesting and stimulating events.

I look forward to serving you all in my remaining year as president.  Remember that Friends memberships make wonderful and enduring gifts for the book lovers on your holiday lists.

My warmest seasons greetings to you and your families.

Bridget Thomas
