HORNED TOAD CANYON
Horned Toads in a variety of forms were in abundance on Sunday afternoon, November 22nd when Joyce Gibson Roach signed copies of her new book, Horned Toad Canyon, in the Library lobby. Daggett Montessori students under the direction of Lisa Davis, education director at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, entertained the crowd with a delightful hand puppet show. Following the presentation Randy Vick played guitar and sang “Horned Toad Canyon” written especially for the occasion.
From tables decorated with baked bread frogs, guests enjoyed punch, tea sandwiches, and white cake topped with purple frogs. Prior to the event and through December, lobby display cases contained an exceptional exhibit of Joyce’s horned toad collection arranged by Susan Swain, a member of the library special collections staff.
Joyce is a life member of Friends and generously donated proceeds from her book sales to the organization. Joining her at the event were her mother, son, daughter and two grandchildren.
