NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM IN EARLY 2005
The Library is almost ready to introduce a new computer system. TCU’s current system dates from the late 1980s and no longer meets staff needs.
Over the course of the past year, Bob Seal, Dean of the Library, Kerry Bouchard, Director of Library Systems, and selected Library staff worked extensively to select an appropriate product.
During October, a group of library department heads spent three weeks in vendor training to prepare themselves and staff for the new system. Extensive preparations are also in place to take TCU’s current 1+ million record bibliographic database from its current use under the old system to the new system.
The "go-live" date is projected for early January. Once we’ve had a chance to make everything operational, we would like to hear from Friends of the Library as to their use of our new system over the Internet.
