The TCU Student Government Association voted in fall 2004 to provide $44,000.00 to fund the Information Commons group computing areas.

Four "pods" will be installed to accommodate between four to six users needing to work around a single project. Each pod will be equipped with flexible tables, chairs, PCs, MACs in two pods, two 20 inch flat panel monitors on articulating arms, wireless mouse and keyboard, and marker boards. Completion is expected later this spring.

Nearly 12,000 books were removed to the library off-site storage facility and another 75,000 books were rearranged in the library to make space for the four pods.

While the Information Commons Computer Lab located in the library has been extremely popular and constantly occupied it did not meet the increasing need for group project work. It was noted that students would adapt by cramming around one of the 110 computers in the computer lab or make use of one of the 30 laptops on the wireless Information Commons desk.
