Presidentís Message

By Susan Hotard

This school year began with a change at Mary Couts Burnett Library. Dean Bob Seal left for Loyola University in Chicago, and Dr. June Koelker assumed the position of Interim Dean. The Friends will remember the leadership and friendship of Bob Seal and the implementations he accomplished at the library. We also appreciate the leadership and vision of Dr. Koelker as she continues the smooth “running” and advancement of all aspects of the library.

With Christmas approaching, you have several opportunities to enjoy the season with the Friends of the TCU Library. On December 2nd Santa and Mrs. Claus will interview Jeff Guinn at the TCU Press Event. What a good time to buy books for Christmas gifts and have a jolly time with Santa! Then on December 9 at the TCU Library, Dr. Michael Meckna, Professor of Musicology, will be the speaker for the TCU Friends Faculty Speak Event. His knowledge and good humor in discussing “Music in Fiction” will make for an enjoyable evening.

As always, I am grateful for the opportunities that being a member of the Friends of the TCU Library affords us all. Membership is more than just check out privileges. Join us to meet new friends and participate in informative and congenial events. A gift of membership in the Friends of the TCU Library would be a thoughtful remembrance for your friends. For more information call the library administrative office at 817-257-6109. I look forward to seeing you at a Friends event.

With warmest wishes for a happy holiday season,

Susan Hotard
