On the eve of the election Dr. Paul Boller, Emeritus Professor of History, spoke to an attentive group of Friends and guests. His topic was Presidential Campaigns and how they have changed over time. He noted that in stark contrast to today’s campaigns that early in the country’s history it was considered inappropriate to actively seek election. Additionally he commented on the increasing importance of the active participation of candidate’s wives and the influence of the media, print, television and internet.
