This year’s Staff Award, the ninth, sponsored by the TCU Friends of the Library was awarded to Susan Swain at the annual library staff, retiree and Friends board luncheon in January.
Described as someone whose work is of the highest caliber and whose instincts and people skills are especially keen, Susan is seen as someone extraordinarily service oriented who works in a manner that goes far beyond the job title and description.
Although she works “under the radar” in a secluded area of the Library, patrons are still known to write and express amazement at the quality of work, outstanding for both its creativity and innovation.
Library staff have seen and enjoyed her simply wonderful work as curator, designer, and installer of exhibits. See the current exhibit “When Skies Were Young” for Susan’s work. The Chancellor’s Office relies on her work in the pursuit of important and visible projects such as Founder’s Day while faculty members praise her help on crucial projects. She has also completed a MA at TCU and is now pursuing teacher certification in Art Education all while working full time.
