Spring Banquet Awards
Jim Wright received the Carol Jim Renshaw Award at the 2006 spring banquet. His collection of the Jim Wright Papers and related material documenting his thirty-four year career in the U.S. House of Representatives were given to the TCU Library. The papers provide insight into opinions of constituents, interaction with his colleagues and regional and national issues that confronted Congress during his tenure which spanned eight presidents. They are valuable to researchers because they tell the story of North Texas and the nation. Materials also include speeches, photographs, news clippings and audio visual materials.
Established in 1983, the Renshaw award is named after the first president of the Friends of the TCU Library and honors distinguished service and special gifts to the Library.
George and Sue Sumner were the recipients of the Friend of the Year Award given in appreciation and gratitude for a single contribution within a specific time frame. With their gift the library is beginning a fund that will help build an addition to the library. George was on the board of the Friends 1985-1992 and served as president from 1988-1990. He and is a past recipient of the Friend of the Year Award in 1986. He and Sue attend Friends events on a regular basis and have been life members since 1981.
