|Another Busy Summer
Despite economic woes and belt tightening, the Library has been scheduled for ongoing carpet replacement; a new roof on the 1980s addition; and new fire alarm and fire sprinkler installation. During the summer of 2002 the Library saw nearly the entire first floor carpeted (23,335 square feet) and the renovation of the Gearhart Reading Room. This summerís carpet project will finish carpeting on the first floor (10,000 square feet) and remove carpet and replace with tile flooring in the basement (approx. 15,000 square feet).
Currently the Library has fire sprinkler systems in the sub-basement in the 1980s building and a fire alarm system throughout the building. Existing sprinklers and fire alarms will be replaced and brought up to current code. This project could begin this summer and take eighteen months to complete.
Summer project alerts and updates will be communicated
through the library website (http://lib.tcu.edu)
as it impacts services and areas of the building.
